Itinerary Overview
Followed by 7 days of exploration of the breadth and beauty of Sri Lanka, visiting some of the wildest and most magnificent places, the trail starts at the golden beaches of Negombo before dropping down outside the ancient fortress of Sigiriya, where history meets nature in this naturally poised marvel. Discover the cultural scene of Kandy then escape to the misty, cool hills of Nuwara Eliya and its endlessly green tea plantations. March to Ella, nothing less than a nature lover's paradise, and head to its beach around Unawatuna for sheer relaxation. It began at the airport and was marked by a complete journey locked into the history, in its very premises-perfectly intermingled with adventure and relaxation amid the charm of this serene and emotional Sri Lankan reality.
Welcome to our humble little country! After a long journey, start your way to Sigiriya. Going from Negombo to Sigiriya also means to cross the Matale area. Here we visited the Aluviharaya Rock Cave Temple. After getting blessings, we entered into other touring sites, viz. the historical site of Nalanda Gedige. Having explored all of these, let us start on our journey back to Sigiriya. On reaching Sigiriya, check on into your Sigiriya hotels and spend your time relaxing while dinner is being arranged. Catch this beautiful day to hike up the Pidurangala Rock! After hiking up, dine at a lodge and get some rest.
After that, get ready to Modara village in Sigiriya for myriad options such as bullock cart, tuk-tuk, boat ride on the lake, and cook and taste the most anticipated local cuisine. After many of such magnificent experiences, you will be transferred to Kandy. In Kandy, walk outside the most valuable world heritage lot that which houses the sacred tooth of Lord Buddha. In the afternoon, check in to your accommodation in Kandy and settle down. Stay until the evening, have dinner, and move further to see a traditional Kandyan dance performance. Then, tie it all together with a small walk around the city and visit in the evening.
Leave Kandy early the following day, ready to visit the Nuwara Eliya. On the way, visit the botanical garden of Peradeniya. Spend some time there, and start the journey again. On your journey, you’ll also get to view stunning Ramboda Falls. After that, you can go to the Damro Tea Factory in Labookale and see many things, such as how tea is produced, how tea plantations are located, and how tea leaves are plucked. After an enjoyable time, go to your accommodation in Nuwara Eliya, stay there for a while, and visit Gregory Park. So you can spend the evening at Gregory Park and sleep after dinner.
You will visit the Lover's Leap Falls the following day morning. After exploring it, transfer to Nanu-Oya railway station to take the 12.30 train to Ella. After, descending from the Ella and resting at the hotel.
Early in the morning, get ready to climb the Little Adam's Peak before sunrise. Then, explore the New Arch Bridge. This railway line, which was built in the past, is at the top of many tourists' travel lists. After that, you will visit the Ravana Falls and proceed to Tissamaharama.
In the morning, you can go on a half-day safari in Yala National Park. Afterwards, you will be taken to Mirissa to relax and enjoy the beach. There you can visit Coconut Hill and relax on the beach in the evening.
