Tour Itinerary

Itinerary Overview

Journeying from Kandy to Ella by train has long been held up as among the top-scoring scenic treasures within the world over. The train runs across surrounding wilderness from the otherwise-green hills, and gray rock faces camouflage down to waterfalls quit cascades no one will ever forget. The entire ride takes approximately 6-7 hours to run winding across exciting plants, through well chill-town Hatton, and then Nuwara Eliya. Three classes of seats are provided. Tickets are priced differently, and you are able to select a seat as per your choice. Irrespective of this, due to the journey's appeal, the seats sell out very quickly and big time during holidays and other such times. Therefore, it is suggested that you book your seat well in advance; even saying about booking one month in advance is not enough.

Running down from Kandy to Ella, the train ride seems to be the most fabulous of all such train excursions in the world. The track itself is figured to carry ultimate scenic views of mountain ranges, patches of blue-green tea estates, mist clad hill tops, towering heisting waterfalls, and typical colonial village life. The journey from Kandy to Ella takes about 6-7 hours. But it really doesn’t feel long because of the constant magic of the views along the way. The daily schedules lay out the sequence of trains with the first one, Podi Menike (train number 1005), leaving Kandy at 8.47am to arrive at Ella at 3.15 p.m. The later one moves out of Kandy at 11:10 a.m. to drop by Ella by 5:30 p.m. On the reverse side, two trains run from Ella, the first one goes by at the early-bird hour of 6:39 a.m., and the next one at 9:23 a.m. Of course, since this train journey is one of the most famous tourism enchantments, it is always suggested to get a seat sooner than later, especially if travelling season tourist times (July-August and December-January). This particular train service is provided with first, second, and third class babbling cars. Eventually, the next leg will have you exploring Peradeniya, Hatton, Nanuoya and Haputale. Imagine sticking to a few, smaller sections-hotspots-perhaps Kandy to NuwaraEliya or NuwaraEliya to Ella. With windows always open, vendors being local, and a most awe-inspiring recognizable view, this will be a trip to remember for anybody. However, laughing a lot, the ultimate train ride of any destination would turn this particular event into the most fantastically fun train journey.
