Best Time to Travel to Sri Lanka – 8 Day Tour

Touchdown in Sri Lanka! Don't stress about finding your way—our driver will be there waiting for you at the airport arrivals area. Once we’re all set, we’ll head straight to the ancient capital of Anuradhapura. It’s pretty impressive to see the giant stupas and ruins still standing there today. We’ll walk around the main site for a bit so you can get a feel for the history, and then it’s off to your lodge. You’ll definitely want some downtime to just chill and get over the jet lag after the flight.

Today is a big day; we're heading to the Sigiriya area. There’s a lot to see, so grab a quick breakfast and let's get going. We have a really nice village tour planned for you; it's a great way to actually experience how the locals live here. You’ll probably want to head back to your hotel afterwards to put your feet up for a bit. You'll need that energy for our climb up Pidurangala Rock later this evening. Seriously, the view of the sunset from up there is something you don't want to miss! After that, the rest of the day is yours to do whatever you feel like.

So we’ll do breakfast first, and then we’ll head out towards Kandy. It’s a pretty nice drive, and we’ll also pull over at a spice garden for a look at the local herbs. If you feel like it, we can fit in a quick boat ride or a short hike while we’re en route. Once we reach Kandy, we’ll visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. After that, we’ll go to the Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya, and it’s a lovely spot to just relax for a bit. When you’re ready to keep going, we’ll start driving up to Nuwara Eliya. The views are really good, so we’ll stop whenever you want, maybe to look at Oak Ray Tea Factory, Greenfield Tea Estate, the Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple, and Ramboda Falls. Then we’ll drop you off at your hotel in Nuwara Eliya. And that’s basically the plan, so you’re free to take it easy, however you prefer.

Your fourth day starts with a drive to Haputale. We're heading straight to Lipton Seat for the views, then we'll swing by the Upper Diyaluma Falls. Don't worry, a local guide will meet us there to make sure we do the hike safely. After that, we’ll take a look at the ancient stone carvings at the Buduruwagala Temple. Once we’re done with that, we'll hit the road and head down towards Yala, where you’ll be staying for the night.

Get ready for an early start! A safari jeep will pick you up from your accommodation between 5:00 AM and 5:30 AM. Once we wrap up the morning safari in Yala, we’ll head back to the lodge so you can pack your things and get ready for the coast. Then we’re off to Mirissa! We’ll make sure to drop by Coconut Tree Hill for some quick pictures, and you can wander over to Parrot Rock if you feel like it. Afterwards, spend the rest of the day just relaxing at your place or down on the golden beach.

Today we’re leaving Mirissa and heading up to Bentota. First up is the Madu River—it's a really fun spot for a boat safari, especially through the mangroves. After that, we’ll head over to a local sea turtle hatchery. It’s pretty cool to see the work they're doing to protect the turtles, and you’ll get a chance to learn a bit about what they do. Once we've seen all that, the rest of the day is yours to do whatever you want in Bentota.

It’s your final full day, and we’re off to Colombo! Once we get into the city, we’ll start at the Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque, you can’t miss it, the colours are incredible. We’ll take a breather at Viharamahadevi Park, and then make a quick stop at Gangaramaya Temple if you want to soak in some culture. We’ll get you dropped off at your hotel to rest, and in the evening, we'll head out for a tour to see how the city really comes alive at night.

It’s hard to believe, but your Sri Lankan adventure is coming to an end. Enjoy your final breakfast. Conclude your memorable island vacation before departing with your driver for the Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) for your onward flight.
