What to wear to climb Sigiriya?
Wear something light and breathable, like athletic shorts or loose trousers, plus a moisture-wicking T-shirt, and then grab walking shoes or trainers that feel sturdy and comfortable; they should also have solid grip.
The climb is basically about working through more than 1,200 steep, sometimes uneven steps made of stone and metal, all while dealing with harsh tropical heat and humidity. Hats and sunglasses are strongly recommended to shield you from the sun glare. Still, stay careful with anything dangling or not secured, because the local monkey scene is well known for grabbing unattended things from visitors.
