What language is spoken in Sri Lanka?
The two most commonly spoken languages in Sri Lanka are Sinhala and Tamil. This is because these ethnic groups are the majority in this area. However, English is widely used in schools, businesses, tourist areas, hotels, and television programs. In this situation, the general public is used to using English. Therefore, you will not have much difficulty communicating with Sri Lankan people as tourists. Consequently, you will find many Sri Lankans who will listen to you in shops, on main roads, and on public transport. Don't be afraid of that.
