What is the refund policy if the Sri Lankan agency cancels?
If a Sri Lankan operator just cancels your tour on their own, because of internal operational troubles they can’t really fix in time, then legally they have to give you a one hundred per cent full refund, for all the deposited money, right away and without delay.
Now, if the cancellation is pushed by truly extreme, unforeseen reasons, the Force Majeure rule can come into play, like earthquakes or other natural disasters, a sudden state emergency, or global border closures. In those kinds of situations, the agency will usually present an option: either a total refund minus the hotel costs they cannot get back, or a complimentary rescheduling to a new date. These points need to be written in a clear way and put in your very first booking agreement; otherwise, you will run into misunderstandings later.
