Colombo is the commercial capital and the most populous city in Sri Lanka, and yeah, it acts like the main hub too. It functions as the leading financial, corporate, and maritime trading centre for the island nation.

Even though Colombo powers the economic engine, with its lively deep-water harbour and a central business district, people often confuse it with the administrative centre. The official administrative capital is instead the nearby suburban municipality of Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, and that's where the national parliament is located.
