Do Sri Lankan travel companies charge credit card fees?

Most Sri Lankan travel companies often add a bank surcharge of around 2.5% to 3.5% whenever you pay for a tour package with a normal credit card or debit card.

This extra fee is usually applied directly by local payment gateways (for example, Webxpay or standard bank portals) just to handle international transactions. If you are trying to dodge those added charges, you can usually ask about a different payment approach. A lot of travellers end up using secure bank transfers (like Wise or SWIFT) for the first deposit, then they pay the rest in cash (USD, EUR, or GBP) after they arrive in Colombo.
