Do operators charge a fee or take hotel commissions?

Most Sri Lankan tour operators do not charge a separate “planning fee” to the client; instead, they make money through commissions and wholesale markups that are built into the hotel and service rates. The figure you see is the final package cost for you.

This commission setup is the usual business model across the global travel industry. It pushes the agency to lock in excellent venues for your stay, but it is still important to verify they are suggesting hotels based on quality, not only the highest commission yield.
