Can a local agency plan a legal destination wedding in Sri Lanka?
Lots of well-known travel agencies in Sri Lanka have in-house events teams that can coordinate destination weddings in a fully legal way for foreign nationals. They take care of basically everything, from setting up the local registrar arrangements to organising the Poruwa rituals during the ceremony, and also translating the marriage certificate once it is issued.
To make sure the union is legally binding in the wider world, you have to be physically in the country for at least four days before the wedding day. The agency usually asks for copies of your passports, your birth certificates, plus affidavits that confirm your civil status, ahead of time. They do this so the paperwork can be processed smoothly with local government offices.
